A guided reading program for schools, libraries, and community organizations.
Each reading circle pairs a KireKids story with a companion journal, guided discussion prompts, and reflection activities. Young readers gather in small groups to read, talk about what matters, and practise one real thing from the story.
The goal is not to turn a book into homework. The goal is to create a space where young people can see themselves, hear one another, and carry the conversation beyond the last page.
A KireKids novel or story pathway, companion journals, discussion prompts, reflection activities, and facilitator notes.
Partners may also add a visit from a KireKids author or trained KireKids representative — for a story discussion, guided reflection, youth Q&A, or family sharing session.
Family wisdom, belonging, and identity. A girl, a grandmother she never met, and twelve Jamaican proverbs that arrive one crumb at a time.
Effort, follow-through, and becoming. A boy, one summer, a list of things he has been avoiding, and the decision to start.
Responsibility, independence, and routines. A girl, a household tired of reminders, and a plan that replaces nagging with something that works.
Courage, self-expression, and being seen. A young person, a pair of earrings, and the day they decide they are allowed to show up as themselves.
Schools, libraries, after-school programs, youth organizations, newcomer programs, community centres, and family literacy initiatives.
Especially suited for readers ages 9–15 navigating identity, belonging, family, effort, courage, or self-expression — and for the educators, librarians, counsellors, and community workers supporting them.
"One-one coco full basket."
Small, steady efforts add up to something big. — Jamaican proverb
